Temperatures and Seasons

Any time of the year is a good time to visit Royal Kruger Lodge and Spa****.

November to March: Summer in the Lowveld!

During summer, temperatures are warm, ranging from 30-45°C during the day and 18-25°C at night. You might experience afternoon thunderstorms. The bush is green and full of life, though it can be harder to see animals. Morning safaris start early at 04h45 to enjoy cooler weather. This is also the time when many migratory birds visit, making it a great season for birdwatching, with over 500 bird species in Kruger National Park.

April to May: Autumn in the Lowveld!

With the rains stopping, the bush starts to dry out, and water sources become fewer. Animals gather around the remaining waterholes and rivers. Temperatures cool down, but it’s still nice for early and late safaris, and the pool is great during the day.

June to mid-August: Winter in the Lowveld!

Daytime temperatures are mild, around 20-25°C, but mornings and evenings can be chilly (8-10°C). Bring warm clothes for early safaris. The dry bush makes it easier to spot wildlife.

Late August to November: Spring in the Lowveld!

Temperatures rise to 25-30°C, and the pool is inviting again. The bush stays dry, offering good visibility for safaris, and water sources are still limited. Early morning and evening safaris are ideal for enjoying the pleasant temperatures.
